Sometimes, people come to Hoi An not to visit the place but to go aboard to a cluster of beautiful islands located slightly close to Hoi An shore. And scuba diving is the most popular activity in this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site – Cham Islands (known locally as Cu Lao Cham) thanks to the islands’ rich aquatic resources especially corals.
Cu Lao Cham is 18km offshore from Hoi An and is a compound of 8 small islands, 165 ha of coral reef, 500 ha of seaweed and sea grass beds. So, this is undoubtedly one of the best places for scuba diving in Vietnam. And it is best to dive or snorkeling in the summer.
Most tours to Cham Island offer a diving activity that goes along with the whole package. But Cham Island Diving (88 Nguyen Thai Hoc str, Hoi An) offer the most famous and quality diving tours among them. The centre offers a wide range of tours from basic scuba diving, snorkeling, multiday diving trips, private tour with BBQ lunch and PADI courses.
For the multi-day tours here you’ll be staying at the fisherman village, gathering around under the campfire at night, and serve with the freshest seafood. Diving is not an easy activity, thus there are few important tips for the safety:
- Carefully check your life jacket.
- Warm up with physical exercises just like before playing any sports.
- Wear your wetsuit because of the jellyfishes would ruin your dive.
There are always non-diving tours available so if you’re not into diving it’s totally fine. Hope you have an amazing time diving in Cu Lao Cham!
